Marco Innao, from Italy talks about his experience as an AIESEC Mumbai intern.

 

“I arrived in Mumbai 1 month ago, and so far I love it.

 

The city is amazing, I love how huge and crowded it is. Of course I am having some problems with commuting to work, figuring out buses, taking auto rickshaws, and dealing with traffic, but I think it is part of living in Mumbai and I am fine with it.

 

I had some problems with my VISA so I had a few days where I was really stressed and frustrated because I was not able to register with FRRO. I was lucky I had friends here in Mumbai who took care of me and helped me adjust to the city pretty quickly.

 

I was able to meet a few people from AIESEC Mumbai, they are really nice and helpful, but they are also pretty busy so it was a little hard to communicate with some of them. It was not a big problem for me, as I had my friends here, and also I know that I arrived during the festive season (Diwali) and that means a lot of people were going home for holidays.

 

My internship is with “Relations At Work” and I really like it. It is exactly what I was looking for when I decided to contact AIESEC. It is a consulting company that helps Italian companies that want to invest in India, and I can see myself successfully working in this field for a very long time. I have only been assigned one project so far and I find it very interesting and perfectly matching my interest and skills. I also really like my co-workers and the fact that the office is in Colaba, my favorite neighborhood in Mumbai. I know I will learn a lot and I am really excited for the next few months.”

 

 

Balakalakaar is an annual initiative taken up by AIESEC Mumbai. It is organized with aim of creating an opportunity for the underprivileged children of the city, to discover and develop their creativity in exercises such as Art, Drama, and Dance etc.

 

Balakalakaar is also aimed at connecting today’s youth to the less privileged children of the city thus giving them a chance to make a difference! Through this project we take one step forward towards our vision of ‘Fulfillment of Humankind’s Potential.’
