ENGINEERING -THE ALTERNATIVE ROUTE 

Many students fail to get admission to engineering colleges as they fail in the entrance test.
But there is an alternative route to become an engineer other than by qualifying the tough entrance test to engineering colleges. the associateship of institute of engineers is considered equivalent to Degree in engineering.

Engineering is by itself a vast field and it offers infinite scope for specialization. Engineering involves the application of principles of science and mathematics to developing new technology towards improving the condition of our life. the thrills of discovery the challenges of unknown, the power to build the new thing and improve upon the existing structures-these give the tremendous joy to the engineer. There is no area of modern life that has not been replenished and invigorated by engineering technology.

ENGINEERING SERVICES EXAMINATION

The engineering services examination is conducted by the UPSC every year. Recruitment is made to the 4 categories of engineering services viz.
I . Civil engineering-11 types of services
II . Mechanical engineering-15 types of services
III . Electrical engineering-13 types of services
IV. Electronics and telecommunication engineering

Following are the services/posts to which selection is made in the four categories.

Indian railway service of engineers (civil)
2.
